The associate professor of communications examined the recent messaging strategies that the embassy of Mexico in the United States employs to reach its diaspora community via websites, Facebook and Twitter.

Twenty-two students from Elon University’s Communications Fellows program participated in a two-week trip in January to the Sunshine State, touring communications companies, meeting with industry professionals, and gaining insights into their future careers.

Beginning May 1, the associate professor of sport management will oversee the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, widely considered the leading resource for professional and student development, education and research in collegiate recreational sports.

The former assistant professor at Louisiana State University and North Carolina attorney will also teach in Elon’s School of Communications.

Several members of WTVD-TV, an ABC television affiliate serving the Raleigh-Durham region, will visit the School of Communications on Feb. 12, offering professional insights and advice during the annual Communications Internship Showcase & ePortfolio Review.

The longtime broadcast journalist joined Senior Lecturer Randy Piland to offer professional expertise and guidance to Interactive Media students traveling abroad as part of a Winter Term course.

During Assistant Professor David Bockino’s Through the Lens of ESPN class, students enjoyed a staggering media tour, visiting ESPN, Fox Sports, SNY, MLB.com and the New York Yankees, as well as sports outlets and athletic venues in Bueno Aires.

Graduate students in the Interactive Media master’s program aided organizations, communities and individuals in Colombia, Cuba, Dominica and Ecuador during their Winter Term course.
