This year's new members of the Sports Hall of Fame will be inducted on Saturday, Sept. 7, prior to Elon's home football game against The Citadel. 

Kirby, a Rye, N.Y., native and 2019 CAA Pitcher of the Year, was selected 20th overall and becomes the first Phoenix to be selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft. 

Slated to miss Elon’s May 24 commencement exercises due to the CAA Baseball Championship in Virginia, seniors on the Elon baseball team participated in a special early graduation ceremony Wednesday afternoon.

The 45th annual athletics awards banquet was held May 13 in Alumni Gym and recognized the accomplishments of student-athletes during the 2018-19 academic year. 

Elon student-athletes more than doubled their volunteer presence with nearly 40 serving in second year with Garrett Elementary’s reading initiative as part of the Read Across America program.

 

The coordinating producer of Elon Sports Vision, formerly Maroon Sports, returned to her native Minnesota to support three of the network’s basketball-centric shows.

Schrage becomes the 18th head men's basketball coach at Elon and comes to the university from the Ohio State University. 

Audrey Kennett '21, a member of the women’s golf team, showed up to Habitat for a build shift over a year ago and is now joining the campus chapter’s leadership team as next year’s service coordinator.

 

Schrage comes to Elon from Ohio State, where he has served for the last two seasons as an assistant coach under Chris Holtmann. 

The honor follows men's basketball senior Tyler Seibring's selection as a three-time Academic All-American.
