The university hosted a press conference at Schar Center on Friday, July 21, to introduce Jennifer Strawley to the community as the institution’s 20th director of athletics.

The move follows the addition of new members to the conference and a new vision for the CAA.

Strawley will become the 20th director of athletics at Elon. She will begin her tenure at Elon on Aug. 1.

The Phoenix men's basketball, men's soccer and women's soccer programs were recognized for having the highest collective grade point average in each of the 22 sports sponsored by the CAA during the 2022-23 academic year.

Strawley comes to Elon from the University of Miami, where she has served as the senior deputy director of athletics. She will begin her tenure at Elon on Aug. 1.

Kirby, a standout for the Seattle Mariners, will be the first Elon player since 1956 to appear in the "Midsummer Classic."

Among the four Phoenix athletes honored were Olivia Archer (women's tennis), Madison George (women's outdoor track & field), Jeppe Jordoson (men's soccer) and Daniel Martin (men's tennis).

This year's class of inductees includes representatives from athletic training, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's soccer, men's basketball and men's cross country.

Davis is one of the members of the graduating class to be featured on Today at Elon as a "profile of resilience" for their ability to adapt and succeed in the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Somers, a standout golfer during his years at Elon, secured a spot in the PGA Championship with a fourth-place finish in the PGA Professional Championship in April.
