CATL announces 2023-24 Diversity and Inclusion Grant recipients

The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce the recipients of the 12th annual Diversity and Inclusion Grants for the 2023-24 academic year. Since 2011, this grant program has supported small faculty teams in developing projects focused on inclusive pedagogies, assignments, content and strategies to foster learning about human diversity.
Cherrel Miller Dyce selected for inaugural ATE Inquiry Initiative exploring opportunity gaps in education

Cherrel Miller Dyce, associate professor and executive director executive director of diversity, equity, and inclusion, in the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education, completes a second year in the inaugural "Inquiry Initiative" sponsored by the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE). The Initiative was the "first of its kind" collaborative exploration of teacher education practices and research, focused on "opportunity gaps" in education.

Student-produced documentary captures BEA Award of Excellence

Liam Dupas ’26, Aaron Chan ’26 and Julien Dupas ’26 received a 2023 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Award of Excellence for their micro documentary, “The Inspirational Story of Finn Curran-Ng’asi.” The project explores Curran-Ng’asi’s journey from gaming, vaping, smoking and generally unhealthy habits to transforming his life through calisthenics and weight training.
