Alexis “Lexie” Kamerman’s colleagues and friends shared laughs and tears Monday as they celebrated a life cut short by a suicide bomber in Kabul, Afghanistan, where Kamerman had traveled to help educate women.

Associate Professor Prudence Layne authored a newspaper guest column for the MLK Jr. holiday in which she reflects on the shared legacies of the slain American civil rights leader and his counterpart in South Africa, the late Nelson Mandela.

Jeff Carpenter, assistant professor of education, has co-authored an article titled "Chat it up: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Twitter Chats but Were Afraid to Ask."

Professor Thomas Erdmann in the Department of Music had an article appear in the January 2014 issue of WomenArts Quarterly Journal.

The American College Personnel Association’s Standing Committee on Men and Masculinities will present Darris R. Means, associate director of the Elon Academy, and Donald Mitchell Jr., assistant professor of higher education at Grand Valley State University, with the Outstanding Research Award in March.

The American College Personnel Association’s Standing Committee for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Awareness will present Darris R. Means, Elon Academy associate director, with the 2014 Research Recognition Award in March.

Austin was also named the 2014 Page Legacy Scholar by the Arthur W. Page Center at Pennsylvania State University.
