Professors from 26 colleges and universities were on campus July 13-18, 2014, for a research program hosted by the Center for Engaged Learning.

Elon Law Professor Scott Gaylord was retained by the North Carolina House and Senate, through the legislature’s Speaker and President Pro Tem, to represent the State in its efforts to get the U.S. Supreme Court to review a decision of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals that prohibits North Carolina from issuing “Choose Life” specialty license plates.

Professor Pranab Das writes in regional newspapers about the missed opportunity for reasoned debates and conversations on the nature of human life in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision on Hobby Lobby, insurance and birth control.

Eight papers from the 2013 Elon University Media and Religion Conference have been published in both e-Book and print-on-demand paperback formats. 

Elon Law Professor David S. Levine, an affiliate scholar at Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society, has accepted a position as a Visiting Research Collaborator at Princeton University’s Center for Information Technology Policy for 2014-15. 

The associate professor of communications also offered a separate workshop about data collection to a university in Korea.

Elon Law Professor Howard Katz was one of 25 professors and the only full-time law faculty member to participate in a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) program on Westward Expansion and the Constitution in the Early American republic. He was also selected as one of 22 law professors and deans to participate in a Wolters Kluwer conference on the future of legal education. 

Drawing from his scholarship about the application of the First Amendment to new technologies, Elon Law Professor Enrique Armijo submitted a July 9 filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) net neutrality proceeding.
