On Sunday, Nov. 20, the Elon Flute Ensemble, under the direction of Linda Cykert, performed a benefit concert for Arc of Alamance County.

Their work appears in the Australian Journal of Medical Herbalism.

Chad Awtrey, assistant professor of mathematics, presented a research talk on p-adic numbers at the Palmetto Number Theory Series in Clemson, SC, on December 3-4, 2011.

The 2011-12 Faculty/Staff Campaign is off to a strong start, with 48 percent of employees contributing more than $300,000 to the university so far this academic year. Leaders of the annual fund drive want to build on the success of the 2010-11 campaign, when a record 60 percent of faculty and staff contributed $313,000 to Elon. This year’s goal is 65 percent.

Christina Benson, assistant professor of business law, presented the paper “Jus Post Bellum in Iraq: Emerging International Legal Norms for Economic Reform in Post Conflict Countries” during the 57th Annual Southeastern Academy of Legal Studies in Business Conference November 17-19 in Atlanta.

Kevin O’Mara, professor of management, and Art Cassill, Wesley R. Elingburg Professor of Accounting, had a paper entitled “The Value of a Study Abroad Experience for the Cayman Islands: Connecting and Reflecting” published.

Scott Stevens, sports turf manager, authored an article published in the November 2011 issue of SportsTurf Magazine. The article, "Maintaining a Synthetic Baseball Infield," discusses practical methods of maintaining the synthetic FieldTurf surface of Elon's Newsome Field.

Clay Stevenson, lecturer of music, has been asked to join a team of songwriters at Cobel Music to create personalized music that will be accessible to people of all income levels.
