“The Exodus and Some Possibilities of Jewish Political Thought,” which Associate Professor Geoffrey Claussen co-authored with Emily Filler, appears in the new T&T Clark Handbook of Political Theology.

Members of the Religious Studies Department presented their research and participated in the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Biblical Literature held Nov. 23-26 in San Diego, California.

Sandy Marshall, assistant professor of geography, was selected as the 2020-22 CSRCS Scholar to support his development of community-based research and multimedia projects.

Safi, a professor of Asian and Middle Eastern studies at Duke University, will lecture based on his recent book, "Radical Love — Teachings from the Islamic Mystical Tradition," a collection of Sufi poetry with commentary. 

Allocco worked with Dr. Jennifer Ortegren (Middlebury College) to organize the full-day symposium, “Shifting Sites, Spaces and Selves: Analyzing Ethnographic Practices in South Asia Over Time,” which included 13 presenters and attracted a robust audience.

Pankaj Rishi Kumar will be on campus Wednesday, Oct. 2, to give a talk and screen his documentary film.

The Sept. 11 dinner provided an opportunity for Alamance County and Elon University community members to engage in open and honest conversations regarding the portrayal of Muslims in the media, the role the Masjid plays in the community and other related topics.

Associate Professor of Art History Evan Gatti presented "Things They Carry Re-Presented: Episcopal Simulacra or Decorative Ephemera,” presided over two sessions on Gender, Identity, & the Medieval Bishop & the Secular Clergy, and moderated the Brevia on Bishops & the Secular Clergy in the Middle Ages at the International Medieval Congress in Leeds, England.

Gerry is spending the summer capturing the narratives and realities of South Indian migrants and their communities as part of her research as a Multifaith Scholar.
