Presented by the School of Communications Inclusive Excellence Committee, the interactive event brought together students, faculty, staff and alumni to discuss a broad range of issues related to inclusivity in communications, journalism and the media.

The student-run news organization was recognized at the North Carolina College Media Association’s annual conference held Feb. 22 at Appalachian State University.

Hosted by the school’s Inclusive Excellence Committee, the interactive event will bring together students, faculty and staff to explore topics such as investigative journalism, media diversity, health disparities, and sports equity, with a special emphasis on undergraduate research advancing DEI efforts.

Elon University students captured 11 awards in the 2025 BEA Festival of Media Arts, an international competition recognizing excellence in digital media and broadcasting. Most notably, Brandon Cericola ’26 and Kate Rivera ’25 turned their Audio for Sound and Digital Media class assignment into a Best of Festival award.

The Elon alum is adventuring out west, at least on screen, in the prequel to the hit Paramount Network series "Yellowstone."

In her new role, the Kent State graduate leads a team of more than 60 students, ensuring high-quality live sports broadcasts of university contests and hands-on learning opportunities for aspiring broadcast professionals.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities to recent graduates in more than 140 countries, with approximately 2,200 grants awarded annually in all fields of study.

Assistant Professor Israel Balderas’ Media Law and Ethics class gathered with Assistant Professor Matthew Young’s Polarization & Civil Discourse class to engage in a thought-provoking discussion exploring contentious topics like book bans and their implications for intellectual freedom, equality and First Amendment protections.

The Elon Journal celebrates its 30th publication, highlighting nine student researchers exploring technology, identity and communication across digital and social landscapes.

The cinema and television arts graduate serves as the playoff’s Tom Mickle Communications and Social Media Intern, supporting the creation and execution of a year-round social media strategy that emphasizes its brand and voice.
