Elon News Network, Phi Psi Cli yearbook and Colonnades Literary & Art Journal collect Best of Show honors at the annual North Carolina College Media Association gathering at High Point University.

Assistant Professor of Cinema & Television Arts Kai Swanson and Assistant Professor of English Dan Burns presented their collaborative research at this year’s joint Literature/Film Association and Association of Adaptation Studies virtual conference.

Hosted by the school’s Inclusive Excellence Committee, the event will amplify DEI initiatives and contributions, bringing community members together to engage in DEI-related discussions.

Thirty-four students in Elon University’s Communications Fellows program participated in a 10-day trip in January to the Sunshine State, touring communications companies, meeting with industry professionals, and exploring what their future careers might look like.

Liam Dupas ’26, Aaron Chan ’26 and Julien Dupas ’26 received a 2023 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Award of Excellence for their micro documentary, “The Inspirational Story of Finn Curran-Ng’asi.” The project explores Curran-Ng’asi’s journey from gaming, vaping, smoking and generally unhealthy habits to transforming his life through calisthenics and weight training.

To conclude this year’s study away course in the Caribbean, Interactive Media students hosted presentations on Jan. 24 to highlight their Projects for the Public Good supporting Barbados Red Cross and Lifelong Skills Training Inc.

In the most recent edition of the Elon Journal, six student researchers explored topics such as the evolution of movie musicals, the role of Instagram in the fight for democracy in Thailand, and how graphic designers consider audiences with color vision deficiency.

The new interdisciplinary minor is a collaborative offering from the Department of English and the Department of Cinema & Television Arts.
