During Elon University’s Thanksgiving break, members of the baseball team traveled to the Dominican Republic to study the Caribbean nation’s culture, economy and affinity for baseball as part of the “Globalization in Contemporary Sport” class.

Elon University staff member Ryan Witt and senior Brian Szymanski partnered to produce an entry for the fan-made commercial contest and their submission was named a semifinalist for the competition’s $1 million grand prize.

The sport and event management class hosted a fundraising event benefiting Helping Other People Eat – or H.O.P.E. – a nonprofit organization fighting hunger in Alamance County.

Seven professors and instructors from across campus have been selected 2015-16 Leadership Faculty Scholars. 

Associate Professor Julie Lellis and strategic communications major Nicole Appleby ’16 collaborated to complete a published article highlighting tips to improve the editing process.

Assistant Professors Cara McFadden and Craig Schmitt and junior Abigail Dalton traveled to South Carolina to share their research and expertise with the collegiate recreational sports organization and its conference attendees.

The associate professor of communications was reelected in November at the National Communication Association’s annual convention.

The journalism major will participate in a 10-week investigative reporting assignment at Arizona State University this summer, examining voter access and participation in a national election year.

The managing editor at KXAN in Austin, Texas, was recognized at the 13th annual Lone Star Emmy Awards Show for his in-depth program focused on women's health rights and abortion.
