The semester before graduation is usually an anxious time for seniors, particularly those who are still hunting for a job in earnest. On Feb. 13, a panel of School of Communications alumni implored soon-to-be alumni and undergraduates to use informational interviews, specifically, to make professional connections and improve their job search success.

The School of Communications has selected Jo Craven McGinty, projects editor at The New York Times, and Doug Finberg, executive vice president of marketing for MGM Studios in Los Angeles, as the inaugural recipients of the school’s Distinguished Alumni Award.

School of Communications seniors Kellye Coleman and Lauren Kolodrubetz will present their research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research March 29-31 at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

Tom Nelson, an associate professor in the School of Communications, parlayed his summer 2011 professional development grant into an article published in the January edition of the Broadcast Education Association's Journal of Media Education.
