Hal Walker presents research at fall conference, publishes article

Hal Walker, an associate professor of leisure and sport management, presented research in October at the International Academy of Business and Economics (IABE) conference in Las Vegas. The title of his presentation: “The Relationship between Psychological Commitment, Participation Frequency and Purchase Intention in Recreational Golfers.”

Anderson teaches students how to become ‘mojos’

Janna Anderson, associate professor in the School of Communications, has developed a new way of teaching the upper level writing class, Reporting for the Public Good. Instead of handing in typed up and printed out articles about campus events, students post their stories to the blogging site WordPress. According to Anderson, this emerging style of journalism will enable her students to become mobile journalists, or mojos.

Journalism Students Explore Post-Election Washington, D.C.

It was the ultimate post-election trip for 10 students from the two journalism groups at Elon University. The students from the Elon chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and the Radio & Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) toured major Washington, D.C., news outlets and other media sites the week before Thanksgiving. The media tour was sponsored by SPJ, RTNDA and the School of Communications.
