Kristen Sullivan, assistant professor in the Human Service Studies department, co-authored an article on violence within military families in the latest edition of the journal Violence and Victims. The article is titled "Male Soldier Family Violence Offenders: Spouse and Child Offenders Compared to Child Offenders."

Phil Miller, lecturer in the Human Service Studies department, is presenting research July 17 at the 12th Annual Clinical Social Work Summer Institute in Wilmington, N.C.

Students in a Childhood and Human Services course worked this spring semester with two local nonprofits to create programs and activities that will carry on long after they leave the classroom.

Cynthia Fair, an associate professor of human services, has published an article in the Journal of HIV/AIDS Prevention in Children and Youth. "'I don’t want to sit by you:' A Preliminary Study of Stories and Consequences of Stigma and Discrimination from HIV-positive Mothers and their Children” included interviews with HIV-positive women and their uninfected children about experiences of stigma and discrimination.

Students in a human services senior seminar participated in National Public Health Week last week by raising awareness of HIV/AIDS and how it can affect college students and the community alike.

Cynthia Fair, an associate professor of human services, co-authored "Telephone Support Groups for Fathers Parenting HIV-Infected Children" in the spring 2009 edition of The Source, a journal for clinicians who work with children and families.
