Elon University faculty and academic programs earned numerous top national honors in the 2011 “America’s Best Colleges” rankings released Aug. 17 by US News & World Report. In the magazine's "Focused on Their Undergrads" ranking, Elon is named the #1 Southern University and among the top 86 colleges and universities in the nation "where the faculty has an unusual commitment to undergraduate teaching," as measured in a survey of college presidents, provosts and admissions deans.

Elon has been named one of the nation's top universities in a PARADE magazine survey of high school guidance counselors across the country.

Elon's project to use geothermal technology to heat and cool the new Colonnades residence halls was featured in reports on News 14 Carolina, Time-Warner Cable's statewide news network, and the Triad's Fox 8 news.

The Millennial generation is leading society into a new world of personal disclosure and information-sharing using new media, according to a recent survey of technology experts. They said the communications patterns “digital natives” have already embraced through their use of technology tools will carry forward even as Millennials age, form families, and move up the economic ladder. They added that new social norms and etiquette are being formed as a result.
