On Thursday, Nov. 2, Elon students studying elementary and special education in the Principles of Learning and Teaching Math and Science classes of Assistant Professor Katie Baker and Lecturer Erin Hone attended the N.C. Council of Teachers of Mathematics state conference. 

Jeffrey Carpenter, associate professor of education and director of the Teaching Fellows program, co-authored two articles that appeared in November issues of the journals Educational Leadership and Phi Delta Kappan.

The deadline to apply for admission in spring 2018 to Teacher Education is Dec. 10, 2017.

Elon University has partnered with the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, and Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania, for a semester-long experience for students in the School of Education. 

On Sunday, Oct. 22, Erin Hone, Marna Winter and Molly Kearns' 18 presented a theoretical overview of effective literacy, math integration that contained examples from classroom teachers in practice including correlation to national and state standards.

Heidi Hollingsworth, associate professor of education, and Mary Knight-McKenna, associate professor of education presented at the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement 2017 Conference in Galway, Ireland.

Four professors will work on projects that explore partnerships between students and faculty through dance technique, investigating the effects of learning with nature as a source, and experimenting with different teaching methods in the same course.

Allison Bryan and Erin Hone presented at the North Carolina School Library Media Association annual conference.
