To further strengthen Elon's student-centered learning environment, the School of Communications faculty and leadership decided to move to a new format with six undergraduate programs on June 1.

Elon alumna Shelby McKay ’13, senior academic advisor at George Washington University, provided a keynote address at the May 7 awards ceremony, highlighting her professional path and the influence of Elon’s community, while also sharing words of wisdom with the soon-to-be graduates.

Former NBA Commissioner David Stern’s keynote address provided the kickoff for the inaugural symposium, featuring two panel discussions about the legalization and regulation of sports betting and its potential business impact across North Carolina and elsewhere.

Donna Orender spoke with students and faculty, highlighting her athletic and professional career, which includes leading several high-profile companies.

Benjamin Morse ’15, Carter Speers ’17 and Matthew Gladstone ’18 were among the members of the Boston Red Sox organization to receive championship rings during the team’s 2019 home opener.

The April 23 event is headlined by a keynote address from former NBA Commissioner David Stern, followed by two panel discussions addressing the business impact and regulation of legalized sports betting. Tickets are on sale through April 17; Elon students, faculty and staff can attend at no cost, but must register in advance.

A team of sport management and business majors recently competed in the 2019 Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) case competition while also providing analytics support for the Elon Phoenix baseball team.

Elon was named PRWeek’s 2019 Outstanding Education Program and was celebrated at the PRWeek Awards dinner and presentation on March 21 in New York City.

As Elon University hits the midpoint of its semester and heads into spring break, community members will likely head home, maybe travel, certainly relax and – undoubtedly – stream content. Thanks to the School of Communications’ new channel available on Roku devices, Elon-produced content has never been more accessible.

The 2019 Communications Internship Showcase & ePortfolio Review drew 35 organizations to the School of Communications on Feb. 12 to meet with students seeking internships, employment opportunities and career advice.
