Parent & Family Virtual Orientation

Parents and families are invited to participate in our virtual orientation program! As a reminder, New Student Orientation begins directly following Move-in on August 20, 2021. In-person, parents and families will have an opportunity to hear from Elon’s senior leaders, attend New Student Convocation, learn more about academics and Elon 101, participate in College Coffee, and attend Elon Dining’s Family Send-off Picnic ($15/person). Leading up to in-person orientation, the following sessions will be offered live, recorded, then linked on our website.

Substance Education & Collegiate the Recovery Community — 10:00 am

Elon recognizes alcohol misuse negatively impacts the community, personal well-being, and academic achievement. Therefore, our position on alcohol is one of education and accountability. We want to support parents in guiding students as they become a member of our campus community. As a first-year student, your college student will likely face real decisions about drinking and we join you in wanting them to be prepared. Join this session to learn more about Elon’s approach to substance education and the recovery programs we offer.

Student Services in English and Spanish — 4:00 pm

This session will include general details about the transition to the University in both English and Spanish so families can feel prepared to support their students.

Thursday, August 12, 2021

Academic Support in the Koenigsberger Learning Center — 2:00 pm

This session introduces families to the support units of academic advising, learning assistance, and disabilities resources by providing a broad overview of what each unit offers students. Specific information will be shared regarding ways to access these services.
