The Professional Staff in New Student Programs works to bring the mission to life through engaging leadership opportunities for current students and meaningful transition programs for new Elon students and their families. Emily Krechel is the Director of New Student Programs. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from James Madison University and her Master of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Miami University, Ohio. Immediately after graduate school, Emily served as the Area Director for the First-Year Experience at Earlham College. Following that, she headed west and served as the Associate Director of New Student Services at the University of California, Berkeley for five years. She has served as the Director of NSP since 2017 and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Higher Education at UNC, Greensboro. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, camping, snowboarding, entertaining at home with her wife, and visiting family in Virginia.

Felicia Massey (she/her)

A native of Alamance County, Felicia Fogleman Massey graduated from Elon College in 1985. After serving as a staff writer for Burlington Times-News for three years, she returned to Elon to work in the Registrar’s Office before moving to the Division of Student Life. While remaining in the Division over 28 years, Felicia has worked with various departments: Student Activities, Student Government Association, Greek Life, Center for Leadership, and currently, New Student Programs which houses New Student Orientation, Elon Global Start pre-departure orientation, and First-Year Summer Experiences. She was also Phi Psi Cli Yearbook adviser for 13 years and served on the Communications Media Board. The mother of a daughter and son who graduated from Elon University, Felicia enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren, singing gospel music, providing Christian ministry, and making memories with photography.

Jordan Ballantyne (she/her)

Originally from Dutchess County, New York, Jordan comes to Elon most recently from Boston where she was working fulltime. She attended Bentley University where she was an Information Systems Audit and Control major, with Gender Studies and Computer Information Systems minors. She graduated in 2018 and had been working as a Risk Consultant for Deloitte & Touche until moving to Elon to begin her Master of Arts degree in Higher Education. She is thrilled to be working with the New Student Programs office, as she spent three years working with Bentley’s orientation program, which first sparked her interest and love for higher education work.
