Gisclair's research
accepted for conference

School of Communications faculty member Jessica Gisclair will present her paper "An Exploration of Themes: Mainland Chinese and American Freshman Assimilation to University Life" at the joint meeting of the Popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association in San Antonio April 7-10.

The paper examines Chinese and American students' journal responses to five thesis statements regarding self identity; roommates and dormitory life; missing home and family; apprehension; and academic challenges.

"The research attempts to recognize the similar and dissimilar concerns of freshmen," Gisclair explained.

She will present the paper in PCA's Asian Popular Culture division.
