‚ÄčLive Oak Communications, Elon University’s student-run strategic communications agency, received a 2015 Go Green Advertising Awards competition Gold Award for its “Giving Tuesday” campaign. The fall 2014 marketing promotion was recognized in the competition’s Social Media – Series category.

Live Oak created the fundraising campaign for its nonprofit client EarthShare North Carolina, a coalition of 70 organizations that works throughout the Tar Heel state to preserve and protect the environment. The student-run agency developed the social media campaign to reflect EarthShare’s mission, incorporating imagery of North Carolina’s landscape, products and people.

“I should note that this is not a student award show, which really speaks to the level of work that our Live Oak students produce,” said Hal Vincent, a lecturer in the School of Communications and the faculty director of Live Oak Communications. “Live Oak is really emerging a full strat comm agency, and this honor is just another example of that. Our students are really showing their skills and raising the bar for future campaigns.”

The student-run strategic communications agency was recognized in the competition’s Social Media – Series category.

‚ÄčThe Go Green Advertising Awards program bills itself as the “most exclusive national-level competition recognizing organizations and agencies for excellence in the marketing and promotion of green-themed, eco-friendly products and services.”

Live Oak’s Giving Tuesday campaign was also honored at the Triangle Advertising Federation’s 2015 American Advertising Awards Gala in February. The agency and campaign received a Gold ADDY Award, recognizing the project's “creative excellence.”
