Hollingsworth and Powell receive grant to support use of high performance computing by students

Elon is partnering with seven other universities in North Carolina to promote undergraduate education in high performance computing, thanks to a $650,000 grant funded by the University of North Carolina. Powell and Hollingsworth taught a Spring 2005 course, Intelligent Decision Making, that used videoconferencing to broadcast the course to students at Western Carolina and Appalachian State. Read more on e-net: Course links Elon with ASU, WCU students.

During the summer of 2004, two students, Avery Edwards and Pramotte Malasitt, investigated the application of decision analysis tools to grid computing. Two full time summer research positions are anticipated for the summer of 2005.
