The narrative is one of two productions competing in the festival’s Screenwriting Competition for Comedy Shorts category.

Created in 2014, “That Other Crazy Thing You Do” is a comedy about a couple on a movie date that goes awry. It was the first short film shot on the School of Communications’ RED Scarlet camera.

The film’s crew and cast included Michael Tahan ’14 (director), Leibel (writer), Gabriela Leibowitz ’14 (producer) and actors Gabrielle Toledo ’15 and John Molloy ’14. Youssef Osman, assistant professor of communications, supervised the production.

In 2014, the film and Leibel won the Best Screenplay category in the Cinelon Film Festival. Molloy also captured the festival’s Best Actor honors.

Leibel recently started in the NBCUniversal Page Program, a 12-month experiential development program in Universal City, California.

The Nashville Film Festival is a 10-day celebration of film, held April 16-25. Founded in 1969, it is one of the oldest film festivals in the United States. Each year the event attracts international filmmakers, screenwriters, celebrities, industry insiders and thousands of film fans.
