ABC honors Rebecca Pope-Ruark as 'rising star' and for journal article
The Association for Business Communication presented the associate professor of English with two awards during its recent conference in New Orleans.
Associate Professor Rebecca Pope-Ruark was honored with awards in October at the International Association for Business Communication conference.
Pope-Ruark received the ABC Award for Outstanding Article in "Business Communication Quarterly", which recognized her article, “Exploring Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Approaches to Business Communication Research,” published in the September 2012 issue of the journal.
According to the ABC website, the award recognizes an article that contributes significantly to scholarship, research, and/or pedagogy; demonstrates originality of thought and careful investigation; is well written, lucid, and engaging; and is published in "Business Communication Quarterly" in the calendar year preceding the annual convention at which the award is presented.
Pope-Ruark was also honored with the ABC's Rising Star Award, which recognizes "meaningful contributions to the mission and membership of the association and to the field at large through excellent teaching, research, and/or practical applications."
The Association for Business Communication is an international, interdisciplinary organization committed to advancing business communication research, education, and practice. It publishes two quarterly academic journals.
Pope-Ruark joined the Elon University faculty in 2007 after earning her Master of Arts in professional communication from Clemson University and a doctorate in rhetoric and professional communication from Iowa State University.
She today coordinates the university's Center for Undergraduate Publishing and Information Design as well as its Professional Writing Studies minor.
