The Elon Engineering B.S. became accredited through ABET, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, in October 2022. This accreditation is retroactive from October 2019 and extends until the program is up for rereview in 2027. We will continue to provide updates on this page accordingly.

Below are the Program Educational Objectives, Student Learning Outcomes, and current enrollment information.

Program Educational Objectives

  1. Demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, and social sciences in their professional activities.
  2. Apply a broad multi-disciplinary approach to addressing societal challenges and user needs.
  3. Engage in continuous, independent learning to explore topics and projects about which they are passionate.
  4. Create value for society by entering the engineering profession, engaging in scientific research, or pursuing graduate study in engineering.
  5. Strengthen professional and service outcomes by cultivating collaborative, responsible practice as strong leaders.
  6. Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with a range of audiences.

Student Learning Outcomes

The Elon Engineering Program has seven student outcomes which are identical to the ABET EAC Criterion 3 outcomes. Upon completion of this program, graduates will have the following:

  1. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics;
  2. an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences;
  3. an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors;
  4. an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts;
  5. an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives;
  6. an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions; and
