A Liberal Arts Approach to Engineering

Elon University’s engineering program gives you the opportunity to complete your engineering education at a liberal arts university. You will explore a broad set of societal ideas through the Elon Core Curriculum and develop proficiency in mathematics and the sciences. The major also includes a broad study of foundational engineering topics such as mechanics, materials, circuits and options for more specialized topics such as robotics, bioinstrumentation, fluid flow, and energy transformations. You may further focus your engineering studies at Elon with Biomedical, Computing, Environmental and Mechanical concentrations.

Some key features of the program are the annual engineering design experiences which will expose you to team-based, creative problem solving in the context of service-learning, prototyping and scholarly research. You will learn to effectively assess needs, project design, prototype, collaborate and evaluate and improve their solutions.

An engineering degree with advanced studies in other disciplines

Given the flexibility of Elon’s four-year engineering program, you have an opportunity to pursue studies in other disciplines such as business, entrepreneurship, professional writing and rhetoric, a world language, or any other academic areas for which we offer minors. Remember: You must complete Elon’s Core Curriculum program requirements and the Elon engineering curriculum requirements:

Engineering Degree Requirements & Courses

Engineering Degree (Biomedical Concentration) Requirements & Courses

Engineering Degree (Computing Concentration) Requirements & Courses

Engineering Degree (Environmental Concentration) Requirements & Courses

Engineering Degree (Mechanical Concentration) Requirements & Courses

Please contact Dr. Scott Wolter for any questions regarding the four-year program.
