In this course, students will learn how to apply appropriate data analysis methods to generate and interpret evidence-based findings for strategic decision-making in the sport industry. This course covers statistical methods and approaches (e.g., descriptive, inferential, correlation, and regression analyses) to develop students’ technical, analytical, and interpretive competencies in working with data. In addition, predictive and case analysis assignments enable students to assess data, select appropriate analytical methods, communicate data-driven findings, and utilize software tools to create evidence-based solutions for sport performance and business challenges. Students will also use data visualization techniques to effectively communicate evidence-based findings in ways that enhance audience comprehension and engagement. Students will utilize Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and SPSS to conduct diverse analyses throughout the course. Using these software tools will enable students to apply, interpret, and present information from datasets and data analyses, thereby enhancing their analytical and visualization competencies.
