Students love receiving mail and packages from parents, family, and friends throughout the year. Below is some pertinent information to help you mail items effectively to your student.

Mailing Address

All mail and packages should be addressed as follows:

Student First and Last Name
XXXXX Campus Box
Elon, NC 27244

The number is listed before Campus Box so it reads like a street address.

Ask your student for their campus box number. (They can find it in their OnTrack account.) It is not necessary to include their building name/room, ID number, or other identifying information. Items are routed through our centralized Mail Services department and distributed based upon the name and campus box number listed.

Be sure the student’s first and last name and campus box number are listed in the address as shown above. Items without the student’s name or campus box number, or with the wrong name or number, may cause the item to be delayed or returned to sender.

If a shipper is requiring more information, an additional address line of 100 Campus Drive can be included.

Accepted Shipping Carriers

Mail Services accepts deliveries from the following carriers:

  • Amazon
  • DHL
  • FedEx
  • LaserShip
  • USPS
  • UPS

Local Delivery of Flowers, Gift Baskets, Groceries, etc.

Local delivery of flowers, gift baskets, balloons, and baked goods will be delivered directly to the front desk in Moseley Center instead of coming to Mail Services.

Direct store and grocery deliveries (DoorDash, Roadie, Shipt, Target, UberEats, Walmart, Whole Foods, etc.) must be coordinated with the student for delivery directly to the student. These deliveries are not accepted at Mail Services, Moseley Center front desk, Inman Admissions Welcome Center, or anywhere else on campus. Items left randomly on campus/unattended that are not claimed within a day will be donated or discarded.

Shipping Perishables or Medication

Mail Services does not have a refrigerator for storing perishables or medications. All perishables will be discarded 24-48 hours after delivery if your student hasn’t picked the item(s) up from the mail counter. If you are shipping medicine, we recommend using USPS ExpressUPS Next Day, or FedEx Express.

Overnight Shipping

There are several things to keep in mind when shipping items overnight:

  • USPS Mail/Packages: All USPS mail and packages are first routed through the Town of Elon Post Office before coming to the University. Our couriers pick up and drop off mail throughout the day but if your overnight package arrives at the Town of Elon Post Office after 3:30pm, we may miss it until the next day. If you need to have something shipped overnight, we recommend shipping via overnight services offered by FedEx or UPS. Both of these vendors deliver directly to our mail processing center so the chances of your package getting here on time is greater.
  • Mail Services Hours: Our hours are listed to the left. If your overnight package is delivered when we are not open, your student won’t be able to get the package until the next business day. This includes Sunday deliveries.
  • Shipping Confirmation: Some people get confused when the shipper has confirmed delivery but the student still hasn’t received the item. We receive a lot of mail and packages over the course of a day so time for processing is needed. Your student will receive an email notification from us once the package is ready for pickup.

Shipping Packages Ahead of Move-In

If you are traveling a long distance or flying-in, you may want to ship some of your student’s belongings to campus beforehand. Please read more about shipping packages for move-in on the Incoming Students page.
