Before you continue, take a moment to verify your email address with Canvas. This allows Canvas to deliver announcements, notifications, and student messages to your Outlook inbox.

Your Next Click

Two participants work together on a laptop during a technology workshop, discussing something on the screen with smiles. Other faculty and staff are seated throughout the classroom using laptops and participating in the hands-on learning session.

Wherever you are in your Canvas preparation, there’s still time to make meaningful progress before classes begin. Use the quick check below to identify your next click. No matter where you are today, your next click is simply the next small step that moves you forward.

Choose the statement that best describes where you are today, then take your next click:

I haven’t logged in yet.

Your next click: Log in to Canvas, explore your dashboard, and become familiar with your teaching environment. Once you’ve logged in, your next step is to migrate one of your Fall courses so you can begin reviewing your content.

I’ve explored Canvas, but haven’t migrated a course yet.

Your next click: Migrate one Moodle course to Canvas so you can begin reviewing your content. Access the Prepare Your Course guide.

I’ve migrated a course.

Your next click: Spend 10-15 minutes reviewing:

  • Modules
  • Assignments
  • Pages
  • Course Links
  • Due dates

Most content transfers successfully, but reviewing your course now can help you identify any needed adjustments before classes begin.

I’m actively preparing my course.

Your next click: Refine your course with help from an upcoming workshop or office hours if you’d like additional guidance or have questions before the semester begins.

I’m ready for students.

Your next click: Publish your Canvas course so students can access it before or on the first day of class. Then, take a moment to recognize how far you’ve come. Publishing your course marks an important milestone in your Canvas preparation.

If questions come up during the semester, Teaching and Learning Technologies and 24/7 Canvas Support remain available whenever you need them.
