Mathew Gendle, an associate professor of psychology, and Jeffrey Pugh, the Maude Sharpe Powell Professor of Religious Studies, gave a poster presentation April 14 at the Toward a Science of Consciousness conference in Tucson, Ariz

Duke Hutchings, assistant professor of computing sciences, on April 17 presented his paper, "Controlling Information Display in Larger Pixel Spaces: A Study of Window Snipping by Multiple-monitor Users," at the 48th Association for Computing Machinery Conference at the University of Mississippi in Oxford.

Provost Steven D. House has promoted Mary Wise to associate vice president for academic affairs and Peter Felten to assistant provost. Both promotions are effective June 1.

"Family 2.0," a short documentary by School of Communications assistant professor Ken Calhoun, will be screened at this year's 360 | 365 George Eastman House Film Festival.

The Department of Physics hosted a joint meeting April 16-17, 2010, of the North Carolina Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers and Zone 5 of the Society of Physics Students. More than 114 physics professors, high school teachers and students from the Carolinas attended.
