Elon student selected for Multicultural Advertising Internship Program

Junior strategic communications major Theresa Helmer has been selected for the Multicultural Advertising Internship Program and will intern this summer at an award-winning agency in Boulder, Colo.

The American Association of Advertising Agencies sponsors MAIP and offers students a paid internship at one of its member agencies. Helmer was selected by Crispin Porter + Bogusky for a summer internship position that received more than 1,000 applications.

Crispin Porter + Bogusky is a full service integrated advertising and digital agency representing brands like Microsoft, Burger King, Dominos and American Express. Helmer will travel to Boulder on June 3 to begin her internship, and she travels to New York City on Aug. 10 for MAIP’s graduation and networking event.

Helmer is a member of the Elon Chapter of the American Advertising Federation and will serve as chapter secretary for the 2011-2012 year. She also serves as president of Alpha Chi Omega at Elon University, and is the first African American president of a Pan Hellenic Council organization on campus.
