An Oct. 18 program in McKinnon Hall exposed new students to potential academic programs to explore over the next four years.

Dozens of students turned out Thursday afternoon for the inaugural Interdisciplinary Programs Fair to introduce students to majors and minors at Elon University, as well as its pre-health and pre-law programs, that feature curricula pulled from a variety of academic departments.
Attendees at the McKinnon Hall event received information and advising from faculty and students already involved in the various programs. The program was aimed at freshmen enrolled in Elon 101, which for the first time this year is requiring students to create four-year plans for their studies.
“The point of this fair is to showcase our creative interdisciplinary programs, especially now that our first-year students are being asked to think and plan for their time at Elon,” said Nancy Harris, associate dean of Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences.
About 400 current students from all classes have declared a multidisciplinary minor, Harris said.
