Elon University senior Caitlin Jones was named the overall champion at the International Collegiate Sales Competition hosted by Florida State University from Oct. 19-21, 2012.

After completing three rounds, which involved a business-to-individual selling situation, a needs-assessment sales call and a sales call with a decision maker, Jones advanced to the finals where she competed against 70 students for first place.

Seniors Oliver Goddu, Nicholas Sissine and Lauren McKenzie, all Chandler Family Professional Sales Center students in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, also competed. Their efforts combined with Jones’ landed Elon a third place finish in the team awards.

“ICSC was an exciting, fast paced and intense experience,” said Jones, who is majoring in marketing. “Representing Elon is such an honor and I’m not only proud of winning the competition but also of the dedication of Elon’s Sales Team as a whole.”

Michael Rodriguez, assistant professor of marketing and director of the Chandler Family Professional Sales Center, served as the Elon Sales Team’s faculty coach. “I am extremely proud of not only the results but of the students’ professionalism and commitment to the sales program,” Rodriguez said.

This is FSU’s first year holding the ICSC. Twenty-seven schools participated including the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (first place team) and Texas State University (second place team).
