Lakeside Dining Hall was the place to be Wednesday when Elon University’s Student Union Board hosted the “Cram Jam,” a free late-night event with food and activities that organizers planned to help reduce stress as students study for final exams.

The event featured massages, an oxygen bar, and food served by professors. Students gathered around tables in Lakeside and for fun were given coloring books and crayons to help relax. A capella groups also performed, some of which were dressed in festive red and green clothing complete with Santa Hats.

The event has been around for several years and was the result of the collective efforts of the Resident Student Association and SUB wanting to help the students during a stressful period in the semester.

Cram Jam – the new name when the two previous events “Crunch Brunch” and “Exam Jam” were merged in 2008 – is one of the last events that SUB puts on during the semester. It occurs on Reading Day, the last day of each semester before final exams officially start.

“It really is fun,” said Elon University freshman Lauren Anderson. “This is for us, you know? It is right before finals start and the school is still thinking about us.”
