Coker, Haskell and Nelson publish Global Studies article

Jeffrey Coker, associate professor of biology and director of general studies; Rosemary Haskell, professor of English; and Thomas Nelson, associate professor of communications, recently published "Teaching Global Studies to All Undergraduates: A Required First-Year Course."

Their article, appearing in the journal Perspectives on Global Development and Technology,  3 (2014) 267-280, argues that Global Studies is an area that is foundational for a 21st century college degree. It describes how Elon University, by requiring all first-year students to take the  interdisciplinary course GST 110, The Global Experience, sets the tone for a globally-engaged liberal arts education.
