Felten is the founding director of the Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton University, where information technology, public policy and daily life intersect. The center’s focus is to develop guidelines and technical solutions to address the use and potential misuse of electronic information.

Felten specializes in computer security and related identity and privacy issues, and he has testified in a number of high-profile government lawsuits involving the misuse of technology information. He was appointed the chief technologist for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission in 2011.
