Elon Local News receives nine RTDNAC award nominations 

Members of Elon University's student-produced newscast will attend the state organization’s annual convention and awards luncheon at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Nov. 7.

Elon Local News, Elon University’s student-produced newscast, received nine award nominations in the annual awards competition hosted by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC) and The Associated Press (AP). The winners will be announced at an annual convention and awards luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord.

Named a finalist in eight award categories, ELN is guaranteed of at least one victory having swept the top two places in the Best Student TV News Producing
category. This year’s awards competition recognizes the best of television, radio, website and collegiate work from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015.

“As our adviser Rich Landesberg reminds us, we don’t do work for awards, but it feels pretty great to do award-nominated work,” said Gary Grumbach ’16, ELN’s news director.

About the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas

RTDNAC sponsors professional development meetings and seminars for journalists in North and South Carolina. It holds an annual fall meeting, which offers training for professionals and honors winners of the awards competition. The organization’s annual spring workshop is geared toward helping students hone their skills as they prepare to enter the job market.
