Want to Earn Free Stuff and Land Your Dream Job?

Need help with your resume? Want to learn how to build a robust LinkedIn account? College2Career (C2C) Rewards program, offered through the Student Professional Development Center (SPDC), will help you develop yourself as a professional, and you will receive rewards along the way.

C2C objectives are outlined in these four groups, with strategic activities in each group that will help you to achieve your professional goals.

Group One

            –Develop your resume

-Use EJN to find on-campus jobs

            -Develop a LinkedIn profile

-Discover an Elon Career Mentor on LinkedIn

                                                                  -Take Career Personality Assessments

Group Two

            -Learn about ELR internships

            -Attend a Professional Event

-Engage with Employers at the On-Campus Student Employment Fair; Job & Internship   Expo,                  Teacher Fair, Social Impact Career Fair, or with Recruiters at the Graduate School Fair.

Group Three

-Take part in a Mock Interview

            -Update your Resume

-Engage with Employers at Information and Panel Sessions

Group Four

-Take a free Transition Strategies Course

            -Attend a Professional Etiquette Presentation

            -Reflection Paper

Once you complete the activities in one group, you will get a reward.  For instance, when you finish the objectives in Group One, you will receive an SPDC umbrella or a portable power bank. Various rewards are earned throughout the program. Prizes include $25 Phoenix cash, a padfolio, and quarter zip pullover. Once you have completed the C2C program objectives, you will be invited to a celebratory banquet, receive a certificate, and become eligible to enter a drawing for an iPad and $100 gift card.

If you are like many students, you fear the glass wall around the SPDC office and are missing out on the professional development resources and the great programs they offer. Many of these unknown services are objectives in the C2C program, including the opportunity to build your interviewing skills with a mock interview, or to discover your career personality by taking an assessment. Professionals can also review any of your various application materials, and host professional etiquette sessions throughout the year.

Many students have said their favorite part of the C2C program was taking one or more of Elon’s transition strategy courses. These half semester classes satisfy 1 hour of credit, and they are free. Classes are designed to help prepare you for life after Elon. Course topics include: Personal Finance, designed to help students learn about budgeting, investing, and building credit; Going Global, for students who have studied abroad and are interested in finding an internship or permanent employment abroad; Transition Strategies Careers in Psychology, is designed specifically for psychology majors seeking internships or job opportunities.  Search OnTrack Course 310 for a complete list of topics.

As a member, you will receive tangible rewards, but more importantly, you will learn life lessons and build skills that are simply not taught in common classroom settings.  One student stated that her family and friends continually ask how she became so confident in her presentation or how she earned her internship and she said she “just smiles and credits the C2C program and the SPDC”.

So, if you want to know how to impress clients during a luncheon next summer during your internship, or need help learning what to say when you are asked what your strengths and weaknesses are during an interview, head over to the Student Professional Development Center website and register today for a program that will provide you with critical skills and know-how that will last a lifetime!
