Elon Business Fellows gain diverse business insights during Boston visit

Elon Business Fellows met with professionals at various companies in the Boston area, such as PwC, Fidelity and GE.

Thirty-two Elon University junior and senior Business Fellows traveled to Boston Sept. 28-30 to visit a variety of organizations, including PwC, Fidelity, GE, EF Education First, Turbonomic, Boston Capital, Audax Private Equity, Dockwa, Lean Box, Baystate Financial, Datadog and Mass Challenge. The fellows gained insight into the organizations and their industries.

“I found the Business Fellows trip to be an awakening experience,” said Emily Fasth ’19. “We were lucky to have visited such a diverse group of companies, including some that are internationally recognizable. It was wonderful to represent Elon in front of so many influential employers and businesses.”

The fellows were accompanied by:

  • Tina Das, Lincoln Financial Professor of Economics and director of the Business Fellows program
  • Wonhi Synn, Wesley R. Elingburg Professor of finance and chair of the Department of Finance
  • Brooke Buffington, associate director of career services for the Love School of Business
  • Lauren Duffy, associate director of corporate and employer relations for the Love School of Business
  • Tom Brinkley, executive director of the Student Professional Development Center.

“Our time in Boston taught me that a company’s culture is far more important than the job itself,” said Dora Muratovic ’19. “If I can work for a company that promotes a collaborative and dynamic environment, where my colleagues are ambitious and unique, I see I can be happy in many industries and roles.”

The Elon Business Fellows program blends classroom learning and real-world experience to prepare emerging business professionals to take on the leadership challenges in their professions, organizations and communities.

The program adds an extra dimension to fellows’ studies through dedicated team projects, specialized cohort classes, a Winter Term study abroad experience, company site visits, a four-year professional development plan and senior seminars involving managing a $250,000 portfolio or consulting for a company.
