Truitt Center and CREDE announce formation of Advisory Board for Black Student Spiritual Support

The mission of the Board is to support and encourage intersectional and diverse spiritual needs of students at Elon who identify as Black.

The Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life and the Center for Race, Ethinicity, and Diversity Education are pleased to announce the formation of the Advisory Board for Black Student Spiritual Support (ABBSSS).

The mission of the Board is to support and encourage intersectional and diverse spiritual needs of students at Elon who identify as Black. ABBSSS aims to offer personal and communal support for the myriad ways in which Black students are spiritual, religious, not religious, or searching, and to acknowledge the cultural, ethnic, familial, geographic, and historical intersections between the Black experience and spirituality.

The co-chairs of the board are Cherrel Miller-Dyce, associate professor of education and director of intercultural education, and Kiah Glenn, assistant director of the Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education. Membership of the board consists of faculty and staff already engaged in support, local ministry partners, and members of the Truitt Center and CREDE staff.

Students are encouraged to contact members of the board who are ready to be helpful. Links to the full membership list are found on the Truitt Center and CREDE websites.
