Members of the Class of 2021, their families and friends can turn to Elon University’s 2021 Commencement website for full information about this year’s graduation and the many events that are scheduled throughout Commencement Week. 

The website — www.elon.edu/commencement — has been updated throughout the academic year and includes full details about Commencement events, ticketing information, a complete schedule of activities, information about yearbooks, caps, gowns, merchandise and photos. Along with offering access to information that has been sent to the undergraduate Class of 2021 and their families, visitors to the website will find news stories, photos and videos related to commencement events as well as #ElonGrad digital swag.

2021 Commencement Ceremonies

Undergraduate Commencement

Undergraduate Commencement will be held in three in-person ceremonies on Friday, May 21 in Schar Center. Ceremonies will run approximately 90 minutes.

9 a.m. ceremony (doors open at 8:15 a.m.)

  • Graduates of the Love School of Business

1 p.m. ceremony (doors open at 12:15 p.m.)

  • Graduates of Elon College, the College of Arts & Sciences, with degrees in:
    • Arts & Humanities
  • Graduates of the School of Communications
  • Graduates of the School of Education

5 p.m. ceremony (doors open at 4:15 p.m.)

  • Graduates of Elon College, the College of Arts & Sciences, with degrees in:
    • Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Sciences
    • Engineering
    • Natural and Social Sciences

Graduate Commencement

Graduate Commencement will be held in multiple in-person ceremonies on Tuesday, May 18 in Alumni Gym. Graduate students will learn about guest tickets for family and friends and virtual broadcasts from their program directors. Ceremonies will be held as follows:

1 p.m. – Master of Arts in Higher Education

4 p.m. – Master of Arts in Interactive Media

7 p.m. – Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Business Analytics and Master of Science in Management.

Wearing masks and practicing physical distancing will be required at all Commencement Week events. There will be no exceptions to the mask policy, including in outdoor venues.

COMMENCEMENT WEEK SCHEDULE

Tuesday, May 18

  • Master of Arts in Higher Education Commencement, Alumni Gym, 1 p.m.
  • Master of Arts in Interactive Media Commencement, Alumni Gym, 4 p.m.
  • Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Business Analytics and Master of Science in Management Commencement, Alumni Gym, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 19

  • Senior College Coffee, 9:40 a.m.

Hosted by Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences; the Love School of Business; the School of Communications; and the School of Education in multiple locations. Graduates will gather with faculty, staff and peers for coffee, conversation and food.

  • Baccalaureate, Alumni Gym, 11:30 a.m. (streamed at www.elon.edu/live)

A time for reflection, Elon’s Baccalaureate service is celebratory and inspirational, complete with seniors’ reflections on their time at Elon, sacred texts and blessings from major spiritual traditions, and a renowned speaker who will inspire and challenge. This year’s address will be given by Valarie Kaur, civil rights activist, award-winning filmmaker, lawyer, interfaith leader and founder of the Revolutionary Love Project. Kaur is a leading Sikh American voice, and the first Baccalaureate speaker at Elon from the Sikh community. Six hundred copies of her book “See No Stranger” will be available in the Koury Concourse after the ceremony.

  • Senior Celebration, Rhodes Stadium, 5-9 p.m.

Seniors are invited for a festive evening of free food, live music and fireworks.

Thursday, May 20

  • Donning of the Kente, Alumni Gym, 6 p.m. (ticketed and streamed at www.elon.edu/live)

A rich cultural ceremony involving Kente cloth stoles imported from West Africa and celebrating the achievements of students who recognize their African roots.

Friday, May 21

The One Hundred Thirty-First Commencement, Schar Center

  • 9 a.m. ceremony (doors open at 8:15 a.m.)
  • 1 p.m. ceremony (doors open at 12:15 p.m.)
  • 5 p.m. ceremony (doors open at 4:15 p.m.)
