Homecoming 2008 offers something for everyone this year, including College Coffee and the Spirit Rally, Golden Alumni luncheon, Young Alumni party, tailgating before the Phoenix football game and the Beach Bash featuring the alumni band The IN-MEN. Make plans to reconnect with Elon and your classmates.

Art Cassill, a professor of accounting, has been named Elon University's first Wesley R. Elingburg Professor. Cassill was recognized during Fall Convocation on Oct. 23, where Elon trustee Wes Elingburg and his wife, Cathy, were in attendance for the presentation. It was their generous gift to the university that made possible the endowed professorship.

Hundreds of members of the Elon community gathered on campus Saturday, Oct. 11, to give their unanimous support for the launch of Ever Elon: The Campaign for the Future of Our University. The meeting was followed by a picnic lunch and formal kickoff dinner.

Momentum continues to build for Elon’s new IGNITE young alumni giving program, which enables graduates of the past decade to give back to the university and make a difference in the lives of students. 

Lindsey Harris '08 escaped the fighting in the Republic of Georgia in August and is awaiting her next assignment with the Peace Corps. She chronicles her experience in an essay titled "Goodbye Georgia."

Beginning next month, members of Elon’s Alumni Chapters will continue their commitment to service by volunteering around the country as part of national Make A Difference Day.

Freshmen gathered in Alumni Gym to pledge their commitment to honesty, integrity, responsibility and respect — the foundation of Elon’s honor code — at the university’s third Call to Honor ceremony Thursday, Sept. 11.

Political analyst Charlie Cook predicted a “photo finish” in this year’s presidential election during his visit to Elon Monday in which he also weighed in on challenges for Democrat Barack Obama and the choice of Sarah Palin as the Republican vice presidential nominee.
