Mary Gowan, professor of management in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, has been selected as a member of the executive committee of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Foundation Board for 2012.

The longtime Elon staff member was recognized for welcoming newcomers to the association, promoting and encouraging member involvement.

Darris Means '05, associate director of the Elon Academy, received the Bobby E. Leach Award from the Southern Association for College Student Affairs, an honor that recognizes a student affairs or higher education professional who has significantly contributed to the development of multicultural relations on a college or university campus.

Mileah Kromer, assistant professor of political science and assistant director of the Elon University Poll, was honored Nov. 7 by Indiana University of Pennsylvania, her alma mater, with a Young Alumni Achievement Award.

Colin Donohue, coordinator of student media and instructor in the School of Communications, was awarded a Presidential Citation from College Media Advisers at the organization's joint 2011 convention with the Associated Collegiate Press in Orlando, Fla.

Paul Miller, professor of exercise science, was recently awarded fellow status by the American College of Sports Medicine, the leading professional organization for exercise science.

J. McMerty, the coordinator of video projects in the School of Communications, was selected as one of 20 faculty members nationwide to participate in the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation's Faculty Seminar Nov. 8-12 in Los Angeles.

On Friday, October 28, adjunct professor Celina Bragagnolo successfully defended her doctoral dissertation at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY.
