The professorships, announced during the university's Opening Day for the new academic year, support members of the faculty from a variety of disciplines across the university.

Elon President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to a longtime member of the university's Board of Trustees and a retired staff member during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized three named professorships during the event.

Elon faculty and staff will participate in a full week of activities, gatherings and workshops as the university looks to begin the 2023-24 academic year.

Elrod, lecturer in mathematics and statistics, was named a 2023 Project NExT Fellow through the Mathematical Association of America.

The Power + Place Collaborative and M. Ed. students in 7460 Design Thinking connected youth to the power of sharing stories and connecting with the surrounding community.

School of Communications students have received 13 LAGRANT Foundation scholarships in the last seven years.

Nic Parsons L’24 credits faculty and staff mentors for their support during her first year of law school – reassurance that led her to an all-expense paid scholarship from the Pauli Murray LGBTQ+ Bar Association to visit Chicago for the 2023 Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair. 

John Ferebee L’24 prevailed in a competition for summer interns with the Supreme Court of North Carolina and the North Carolina Court of Appeals that featured a real case out of Kentucky involving questions of the Fourth Amendment.

Poff is pursuing a master of science in mechanical engineering and material science at Duke University.

The alum competed in the theatre tenor, bass, baritone category in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition on Friday, July 7.
