The 2010-2011 Faculty/Staff Campaign is off to its best start ever with donors contributing more than $234,000 in gifts and pledges to the annual giving drive. That total is approximately $48,000 higher than what faculty and staff contributed in gifts and pledges at this time last year. More than 40 percent of faculty and staff have made a gift or pledge to this year’s campaign.

To kick off open enrrollment, the Office of Human Resources is holding a Benefits Fair Wednesday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in McKinnon Hall (Mosley Center).

The 2010-2011 Faculty/Staff Campaign is under way. So far, more than 300 faculty and staff members have made gifts to the university to support the hallmarks of an Elon education, including excellent teaching and engaged learning programs, outstanding facilities and scholarships for students.

Brian Digre, a professor of history and coordinator of the international studies major, will speak about his summer experiences in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait in a presentation on Monday, Sept. 20, at 12:15 p.m. in Lindner 206.

Assistant professor Jason Kirk was a featured guest June 30 on "The State of Things" program hosted by WUNC, a North Carolina affiliate of National Public Radio.

Megan Squire, associate professor in the Department of Computing Sciences, traveled to South Bend, Ind., from May 30-June 2 to lead several panels and workshops at the 6th International Conference on Open Source Systems.

Elon Law professor Catherine Wasson was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD). She will begin a three-year term on August 1. ALWD is a professional association of legal educators, the majority of whom are responsible for administering legal writing programs at more than 150 schools in the United States.
