The chair of the Journalism Department teamed with School of Communications faculty members Julie Lellis, Doug Kass and Brooks Fuller to produce an introductory media writing textbook specific to the needs of the school’s students.

The Careers in Communication Design alumni and friends panel, hosted virtually on Oct. 19, offered students insight into professional design careers.

High school students from throughout North Carolina had the opportunity to hear from many Elon presenters on topics such as podcasting, design and social media.

The two full-time faculty members, who have strong professional and educational backgrounds, are familiar faces to Elon’s campus.

Ten alumni participated in a Sept. 21 Zoom call to welcome first-year students to Elon and the school’s accelerated training program for news reporting, documentary filmmaking and non-fiction storytelling.

The Elon alumnus and members of the ESPN graphic design team were honored at the 41st Sports Emmy Awards ceremony and recognized in the Outstanding Post-Produced Graphic Design category.

The eight-week summer program was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and provided aspiring public relations professionals with access to top agency executives and webinars on strategic planning, data, social media strategy and crisis communications.

Nearly 50 Elon students, alumnae and faculty joined the Sept. 15 conversation to discuss on how the Elon community can demonstrate authentic allyship in the media industry.

Seventeen members and guests of the School of Communications Advisory Board met online on Sept. 15 to discuss their professional industries, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and how the school can better educate and prepare students.
