Pam Kiser, Watts-Thompson Professor in the Department of Human Services, has accepted the position of Interim Dean of Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, and will start her new role with the university on June 1.

Ellen T. Ruff, president of Duke Energy Carolinas, comes to Elon on Sept. 9 for the first in a series of talks this fall by experts in the field of science and mathematics. Ruff will discuss her company’s efforts to develop renewable energy, new nuclear and other types of power generation to create solutions for the energy problem facing Americans.

A groundbreaking for Lindner Hall was held May 21 with the building’s family namesake and dozens of spectators present for the ceremonial start of what will be the “greenest” facility on campus.

Four professors were honored for superior scholarship, teaching, mentoring and service at the annual faculty-staff awards luncheon on May 14. Those recognized included Jim Bissett, Chalmers Brumbaugh, Brian Digre and Earl Honeycutt.

Student leaders from a variety of academic disciplines were honored May 1 during the annual Omicron Delta Kappa awards ceremony in Whitley Auditorium and in individual departments throughout campus.
