The 1 p.m. tipoff will feature alumnus Taylor Durham ’96 as the broadcast’s play-by-play announcer, with Elon junior Tellier Lundquist serving as color commentator.

With the COVID-19 pandemic impacting television production around the globe, Elon University’s student-run weekly sports magazine show has gone virtual to continue to tell insightful and entertaining stories.

Adam Giardino, a broadcaster with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, spoke to students about his start in the broadcasting industry and his role as president of the Black Play-by-Play Broadcaster Grant and Scholarship Fund.

Andrew Scarlata ’19, a member of the Washington Nationals organization, provided an insightful keynote address at the Sport Management Department’s fall internship forum held virtually on Oct. 19.

The cinema and television arts major and Elon Sports Vision president plays an integral role for the Department of Performing Arts and its new production, “Pheromone: An Awkward Olfactory Inquiry.”

The Communications Fellow and journalism major is the highest ranked first-year student in the award’s history and the first Elon student to be recognized since 2013.

Beginning on Monday, May 11, the school will host five nights of programming, premiering student work and celebrating academic achievements at 7 p.m. on ElonComm apps for AppleTV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV. The programs will also be available on the school’s Facebook and Vimeo platforms.

In recognition of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, the School of Communications and the Women Influencers in Sport (WINS) initiative hosted a daylong event featuring an on-campus panel discussion, networking reception and classroom visits with female professionals in the sport industry.
