Professor’s original play “Valued Voices” to be performed this weekend

An original play written by assistant professor Jean Rohr will be performed April 30-May 2, 2010, by the North Carolina Black Repertory Company in Winston-Salem. Members of the company's Teen Theatre Ensemble will bring to life the intricate examination of the educational experience confronting some African-American males today.

Education students host event at Gibsonville Elementary

Elon elementary education majors Corrine Holder and Kaitlin Perry organized and coordinated a visit from an award-winning children’s book author at Gibsonville Elementary School. Holder and Perry are currently completing an internship in a second grade classroom under the supervision of Terry Tomasek, an assistant professor of education.

Thirty-eight new teacher candidates were inducted into the Teacher Education Program on Wednesday, April 28. Current student teachers Liz Seckerson and Becky Fogle provided inspiring words to both welcome and challenge the newest cohort of prospective teachers as they begin the transition from student to teacher. Jared Williams, a 2009 Elon M.Ed. graduate and Rockingham County Teacher of the Year, offered insight into the transition from teacher to teacher leader.
