The Elon University Board of Trustees met on Feb. 15 and granted tenure and approved promotions for several faculty members.

Cherrel Miller Dyce, associate professor and executive director executive director of diversity, equity, and inclusion, in the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education, completes a second year in the inaugural "Inquiry Initiative" sponsored by the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE). The Initiative was the "first of its kind" collaborative exploration of teacher education practices and research, focused on "opportunity gaps" in education.

Coauthored by Carducci, Jordan Harper and Adrianna Kezar, "Higher Education Leadership" challenges conventional paradigms in the field, advocating for liberatory systemic change within and beyond higher education organizations.

Matt Trez, Matt LaFuria and Zoë Rein from the Class of 2023 are part of a new program for recent Elon graduates who want to earn a master’s degree from the university on a full scholarship when they teach for two years in the Alamance-Burlington School System.

"Co-Teaching in Teacher Education: Centering Equity" examines teacher preparation programs that have successfully used a co-teaching model to improve the clinical experience for teacher candidates and to instill a disposition for equitable practice. The volume challenges teacher preparation programs to prepare educators to work together to support all students in today's diverse classrooms.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study, and teaching opportunities to recent graduates in more than 140 countries, with approximately 2,200 grants awarded annually in all fields of study.

Nearly 300 students from Eastern Guilford Middle School visited campus on Jan. 17.

Lisa Buchanan, associate professor of education, has coedited "Religion, the First Amendment, and Public Schools: Stories from K-12 and Teacher Education Classrooms," published by Information Age Publishing.

The monthly science cafe offers ABSS middle schoolers the opportunity to learn about a variety of STEM-related topics.

Nearly 200 ABSS students were given gift cards to pick up any books that excited them and potentially spark an interest in reading.
